Whether you are driving north or south, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel will amaze you. the surge of the Atlantic Ocean, the beauty of the Chesapeake Bay, and the engineering marvel. Both a tourist attraction and a travel convenience, the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel connects Virginia's Eastern Shore with the Virginia mainland at Virginia Beach near Norfolk. It's four lanes, 20 miles long, with two tunnels!

and some photos from the internet.........
To arrive at First Landing State Park, in Virginia, on Chesapeake Bay.
Originally built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s, First Landing state park
is named for being the first place where members of the Virginia Company landed. They went on to settle Jamestown.
The fragile dunes are protected by these beautiful access bridges.
Lots of dead horseshoe crabs and jellyfish on this beach, and cloudy water (diesel fuel?)
For all its beauty, the difficult aspect of the Maryland, Virginia beach areas are these small but deadly sand burrs. They get in everything. I mean Everything! Especially in poor Anna's foot pads. The burrs literally leap from the ground onto one's socks and pant legs, and into the trailer as though they were pole vaulters. Sharp as needles, sticky as glue. Survivors of reproduction in the plant world, for sure!
I was, shall we say, a bit cranky.
The beach at Virginia Beach, the Atlantic, was wide, sandy, delightful, and clean, with para-sailors, fancy hotels and homes to admire.
Sunset over the dunes...........
and a delicious steak dinner prepared by Leslie over the campfire.
I'm a lucky one!
Good night from Alabama................RJ
