All the way through Texas I have had songs in my head. Comes from being raised on the Lone Ranger, Sky King and other westerns. The photos below describe the trip from Martin Dees State Park to Galveston. We left the trees and bayous behind- dry as they are- and came into oil land.
It became immediately clear why the Gulf is known for seafood. This is only one of 4 large boats just off the shore that day.
We were also fascinated by the sight of the homes on stilts. This end of the barrier island only had a few but it is the way folks live. Some of you may not remember how Galveston Island was devastated by Hurricane Ike in 2008. I certainly did not.
This is our route, showing how we needed to get from one Island to the next, with out a bridge. Galveston is wise and has a free ferry that could take us, Ana and "2QT" over. We had a ball, though Ana had to stay in the car.
The shoreline where we waited for the ferry is used for all sorts of activities. Then we loaded up.
Checking on Anna
Look carefully below. What is unusual in the picture?
And then off and on to new adventures.
