Remnants of the forest
Large numbers and varieties of birds are attracted to the water and to the surrounding habitats. Also, many typically Mexican species of birds approach the northern limits of their range here, making this a great place to watch birds.
This great blue heron hung out while we took about thirty photos. You only have to view one of them!
The next morning, heading out, we saw many windmills across Texas, but this property took the prize for the most, and most varied. All functioning.
Remember that reservoir attracting birds? Well, here's a Caracara, often called the Mexican Eagle. It's a member of the falcon family, and this morning in the northernmost area of its habitat. Lucky us!
Wow, we were in Texas last week this time, in the Anza Borrego Desert this morning, and next week we'll be writing from Fairbanks, Alaska! (Flying up, not driving.) We are aware, every day, how blessed we are to be having these experiences.
And thanks for reading! RJ
