breakfast at Silver Jack's Espresso and Cafe, made by a young
woman named Nina. She and her fiance were in their last two weeks
in Baker, would soon be returning to Salt Lake City, where they
would then work in her Dad's restaurant.
Oh, we said, where's his restaurant, we're going to Salt Lake in the morning!
She gave us the name,
told us to tell her parents she said hi.
Well, we did.
And were we ever glad!
At the Cucina Vanina
Cafe and Deli, we had
excellent salads, dinners,
dessert, while Nina's Mom, Dad, and brother performed a wonderful mix of Italian
ballads, 60's folk and rock tunes, on guitar, bass, harmonica, and violin.
The restaurant had an age range of patrons from 1 year to 80 yrs, in a warm, inviting room.
During their break, we had the chance to meet them all, talk about their daughter,
their family and restaurant. Our friends Susannah and Derek, who
live here in Salt Lake City, promised to return with other friends.
Lots of hand shakes and laughter.
I have no doubt we'll see them again.
A toast to La Familia! RJ
How awesome is that? Certainly an experience that doesn't very often!
