Off we went, south to Bishop, turn left at the Tri-County Fairgrounds, onto Highway 6 East. This sign has made me chuckle for years, and today was the day we actually turned and took the road!
Hwy 6 was the first transcontinental
highway in the US. And it really does end in Provincetown!
And stopping for the night in National Forest Land, where you pull off the side of the road and camp in the middle of nowhere. No cell phone, wireless, water. But the brightest view of the Milky Way we've ever seen, and a shooting star at 3 am we both got to see during a bathroom break!
It is good to have an end to journey towards; but it is the journey that matters in the end. –Ursula Le Guin
Hello! So you only have to travel 3205 miles to meet us for a whale trip in Provincetown...!!!
ReplyDeleteBut, you will probably be traveling a LOT more miles than that on this wonderful trek! Can't wait to see more...love you both!
It must be great to be able to take the long way across the country. How are you managing to get on the internet to update your blog? Max wants more pictures of Anna, please ;-)
ReplyDeletePlease tell me you are going to stop at Great Basin national park? that is an amazing place from what i hear, very isolated, few visitors, unique flora and fauna including the rare bonneville cutthroat trout and the vistas over the great basin are amazing, maybe worth a detour?

Ok, we're taking more pictures of Anna! Soon to be posted.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, we went to Great Basin........just amazing place. We did
the Lehman Caves tour, and hiked to the Bristlecone Pines. A day of awe.
Yes, a few more miles than 3205 for us to Provincetown, but I love that sign!
