Sunrise brought us great opportunities for artful photographic moments.
Rabbit Blanket Lake sunrise
We were lucky to capture the crescent moon reflection in the lake waters
Near Neys Provincial Park
So many rocks, so little space (to take any home)
No special reason to photograph this graffiti. I just like the fall colors.
We did not doctor the colors in these photos. It really was this beautiful.
We spent miles driving “through the bush”, which the local people spoke of as the boring part of the drive. We did not find it boring at all, since we were seeing it all with great anticipation.
After ‘the bush’, we came back to the lake, round every curve in the road we saw the lake. You can’t fathom its size.
Hwy 61 has been blasted through solid pink granite in many curves in the road,
which glisten in the rainy light like magic.
Good to know there are old (in this case quite young) hippies everywhere.
As much as we loved the days in Canada on the north shore, this was still a welcome sign to us in Sault St. Marie.
On the U.P., (that’s ‘on the upper peninsula’) Leslie explained to me, since she once lived near there.
The upper peninsula of Michigan.
We drove Hwy 2 west for a bit, heading to Wisconsin, a drive which took us across the north shore of Lake Michigan.
There are a lot of lakes here. I get it now: Land O Lakes butter brand, by the shores of Gitchi Gummi, all that. There’s so much water!
Some photos speak for themselves.
And finally to a tiny campground on Hwy 2 West, grateful for a camp spot, between the highway and the railroad tracks, for the blessings of stretching out and getting some sleep!
And for a 'heart-stopper' dinner of what's known as 'baked chicken' in Michigan, with mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, all in huge quantity. We had this dinner, then a lunch, and then a snack, from our dinners that evening. And a Green Bay Packer game to boot!
Written in Buffalo, NY. Yes, we will catch up with our travels .................RJ
